Q - 1. How many words can I
put in the ad?
A - 1. There are no actual limitations
on the number of words you can put in your ad. The ad size
is 8.5" wide by 11"
high. So, if you have written out two full pages, then
you need to cut down the number of words that you have used. Keep
in mind that the more words you use, the smaller the type has
to be to fit it into the ad space. It is important that
the ad is very readable, so larger photos, less wording is
a good "rule of thumb."
Q - 2. How many photos can I put
in the ad?
A - 2. That is really up to the advertiser. A
nice layout is to use one main photo that will dominate the ad,
along with two or three additional smaller photos, if desired.
If you try to include too many photos, the ad will have a cluttered
look.
Q - 3. How much detail should
I put in the ad?
A - 3. Put in enough information to make
the reader want to breed to your stallion. Some information
you might want to include would be: Name of the stallion/stallions,
breed and year of your stallion, his dam & sire, breeding
fee, a summary or the highlights of his show record. Here are
some typical items that could be included in your ad: 2003
APHA/AQHA Chestnut Overo; HYPP N/N, OLWS Neg; Top 10 World Show;
Reserve World Champion; APHA ROM Halter (45+ points); APHA High
Point Yearling Colt; Multiple Futurity Winner; 16.1h; 1300 lbs. These
are just some examples of the type of information you might want
to include in your ad.
Q - 4. What contact information should
I put in the ad?
A - 4. For your Stallion Connection Online
ad, you should include the name of your ranch or where the stud
is standing, your name, phone number, address or at least the
city & state, and if you have them, your e-mail address,
website address, and your logo. This information needs to be
prominent in the ad - large enough to easily read in the digital
version.
Q - 5. How many stallions can
I include in one ad?
A - 5. Four is the maximum number of stallions
you can include in one ad for best results. If you have
more than four stallions that you are standing, please contact
us to discuss the best way to feature all of your stallions. We
can put one-liners in for additional stallions, ie. "Also
standing - name
of stallion...
Q - 6. If I am standing more
than one breed, can I include stallions of different breeds in
one ad?
A - 6. You can include more than one breed
in one ad.
Q - 7. Can I change my ad after it
has been approved and uploaded to the website?
A - 7. You can change the ad as many times
as you like, but there is a minimum $25.00 graphics fee to revise
an ad & re-upload to the site.
Q - 8. I don't know how to send the
photos to you...
A - 8. We will try to help you if you have
difficulties sending us photos. Let us know if you need assistance
with this aspect of sending us material for your ad.
Q - 9. Can I send you a flyer that
has been prepared so that you can use that wording for the ad?
A - 9. You can send us a flyer in the following
formats: PDF, TIFF, JPEG, Microsoft Word. We cannot accept
In-Design, Corel Draw, Publisher, etc. If you have a flyer that
has been prepared in one of these programs, convert it to a PDF
before sending it to us.
Q - 10. Can you use the photos that
are contained in a flyer that I send you?
A - 10. We can usually extract photos from
a PDF or a Microsoft Word document, but depending on how the
document was created, we may not be able to use the photos that
are contained in a flyer. It is best that you send the photos
used in the flyer as separate JPEG attachments.
Q - 11. I have advertised in another
magazine, can I send you the ad that was used in another publication?
A - 11. Yes. Just send us the PDF of
the ad previously prepared and we can use that.
Q - 12. I have never advertised before,
and I just don't know where to start...
A - 12. Contact us and we will do our best
to help you.
Q - 13. Can I include something
other than my stallion in the ad?
A - 13. As long as the ad includes a stallion
for the 2011 breeding season, you may include something else
in the ad. For example, if you also breed Corgis, and would like
to include information about puppies for sale, or if the stallion
is for sale, or you have other horses or his foals for sale,
you may include that information in the ad, but the primary focus
of the ad must be the standing stallion.
